Mothers Into Living Fit April 2019 Newsletter

“Trees are poems the Earth writes upon the sky.”
–Kahlil Gibran

Happy Spring from Mothers into Living Fit! There’s a lot happening and I am so excited to share with you!

“Your Strong, Sexy Pregnancy,” is available today, April 16th on The book combines all of my years of experience in yoga, fitness, and core training, with my love of Moms, children, and healthy families. This is the perfect Mother’s Day Gift for all moms as it has info for during pregnancy, and how to recover your strength after. Thank you Human Kinetics for making this dream come true and big thanks to my dear friend Lori Bregman for writing the foreword.

Tune in to Good Day LA on Fox on April 22nd for a Mommy and Me Yoga segment with their beautiful and effervescent entertainment reporter, Julie Chang. This is an extra special day because I will share a sneak peek of my new eco-friendly yoga mat with manduka on Earth Day!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kate Hudson during her second and third trimesters and it has been wonderful seeing her use Yoga as a way to stregthen her body during her pregnancy and also connecting with her little girl during that time.

I sat down with my good friend Dana Meltzer Zepeda and gave an exclusive interview for People Magazine about this experience. You can read about it online here

There is a beautiful Native American Proverb that says, “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” This Earth Day, and every day, here are some of the ways that you can help take care of Mother Earth:

  1. Use ecofriendly cleaning products like those from the Honest Company. I really like their Baby Multi-Surface Cleaner and knowing that it is free of ammonia, dyes, and chlorine bleach.
  2. Be a responsible yogi! Choose a yoga mat that is kind to the earth, like those made by my absolute favorite yoga company, manduka. I really like the rubber mats and love knowing that they have no toxic chemicals; this is incredibly important to me because my kids use my yoga mats all of the time.
  3. Spring Clean! Every Spring I take the time to go through my entire closet, and my kid’s closets. Everything that has not been worn in over a year is moved to a donation pile. Not only is better for the environment to not waste clothing and resources, it can go to help families that really need it. By taking a few minutes to google where the closest family shelter is to you, you know that you are helping your community.

Wishing you a Happy Spring, Happy Earth Day, and Happy Mother’s Day from me and my little tree huggers!

XO, Desi
